Modern day slavery is a bigger issue than we might think though we have thought that slavery was abolished, but it has been looming in the shadows for years but finally we can shed some light on the subject, unfortunately it has taken us so long to take action that more than 45.8 million people have been enslaved, and though we do not see it, slavery is all around us. Slavery has been around for over 5,000 years. There are so many different types of slavey ranging from sex slavery to agricultural and more. Modern slavery,” “trafficking in persons,” and “human trafficking” have been used to simplify the terms for the act of recruiting, harbouring, transporting, providing, or obtaining a person for compelled labour or commercial sex acts through the use of force and fraud. In modern slavery, sex trafficking is the main type of slavery. Sex trafficking can include prostitution. Under such circumstances, perpetrators involved in recruiting, harbouring, enticing, transporting, providing, obtaining, or maintaining a person for that purpose are guilty of sex trafficking of an adult. Sex trafficking also may occur within debt bondage, as individuals are compelled to continue in prostitution through the use of unlawful “debt.” Exploits suggest they pay their debt so they can be free from sex trafficking. When a child (under 18 years of age) is recruited, harboured, transported, provided, obtained, or maintained to perform a commercial sex act, proving force, fraud, is not necessary for the offense to be characterise as human trafficking. The fact that children who are exploited in prostitution as human/sex trafficking is disgraceful. The use of children in the commercial sex trade is prohibited under U.S. law and by statute in most countries around the world.
